Overheard - Usłyszane

Overheard yesterday at Carrefour:celebrations,Christmas,Christmas decorations,Christmastime,decorations,special occasions,stockings,winter

Daughter to mother in the exotic fruit section, “Don’t buy kaki here. They are cheaper at Biedronka.”

Who knew?

Son to mother in front of the live carp tank, “Mother, if you don’t want to kill the carp yourself, the boys here will do it for free.”

Overheard today at the hairdresser:

The lady in the hairdresser’s chair before Misiu (wife of my “American” neighbor a.k.a. “No way. Idę do Żabki” man) described how when they lived in California, she couldn’t find poppy seeds anywhere for making her Christmas dishes. After a trip to Tijuana to buy poppy seeds and a visit to the police station where she was charged with transporting large quantities of a controlled substance over the border, she gave up her dreams of a Polish-American Christmas.

Wczoraj usłyszane w Carrefour-ze:celebrations,Christmas,Christmas decorations,Christmas trees,Christmastime,decorations,special occasions,trees,winter

Córka do matki w częściz egzotycznymi owocami, "Nie kupuj kaki tutaj. Są tańsze w Biedronce ".

Któż to wiedział?

Syn z matką przed pojemnikiem z żywymi karpiami, "Mamo, jeśli nie chcesz sama zabić karpia, chłopcy tutaj zrobią to za darmo. "

Dzisiaj usłyszane u fryzjera:

Pani w fotelu fryzjerskim przed Misiem (żona mojego "amerykańskiego” sąsiada zwanego też człowiekiem od "No way. Idę do Żabki”) opisywała, jak - kiedy mieszkała w Kalifornii, nie mogła znaleźć nigdzie maku do produkcji jej świątecznych potraw. Po wyprawie do Tijuany (w Meksyku), żeby kupić mak i wizycie w komisariacie, gdzie została oskarżona o transport dużych ilości nielegalnych substancji przez granicę, zrezygnowała z marzeń o polsko-amerykańskim Bożym Narodzeniu.balls, celebrations,Christmas,Christmas borders,Christmas decorations,Christmas ornaments, cropped images, cropped pictures, decorations, holidays, ornaments,PNG,special occasions, transparent background

Kaki is a fruit also known as sharon. It is from Japan and it looks kind of like an orange tomato. I was surprised to see it at Carrefour, let alone at Biedronka.

The last time we were in the US we bought "kutia" in NYC but in fact it was only poppies :(

PS The wheat for kutia is boiling as we speak!
