What resolutions?

Or should I say "What fucking resolutions are you talking about, bitch?"

Wow. Chris version 2015 has some issues.

I do. I admit it. And flipping the calendar over isn't going to change them a damn bit.

My issues probably started the day I was born. Thanks genetics.

A little over a month ago I decided to do all my blood tests especially concentrating on thyroid (my mother's side) and cholesterol (my fathers side). Misiu decided to do his blood work too.

Flipping through the pages of results I commented to Misiu "Wow. Your cholesterol is really high." He leaned over, took a glance at the paper and said, "That's yours."

Almost 300.

294. That's almost 300.

That's like 100 more than normal.

Yep, this non-drinking, non-smoking, thin, exercising Amerykanka has a cholesterol level of almost 300. Oh and I have an under active thyroid. Good news all around.

The good news is that my good cholesterol is high. The bad news is that I cannot quit smoking and drinking, lose weight and start exercising to get my bad cholesterol under control.

For the last month I decided to do take on my carbohydrates and see what happens....while I wait for my endocrinologist visit.

After one month of restricted animal fat, good fat only, zero trans fat and low carbs, I brought my cholesterol down by about 30.

I don't have any clever conclusions about that. Next blood test is in two months.

Ignore your cholesterol as long as your thyroid is underactive. When it's balanced, you'll get your true level.
If your thyroid is properly underactve (raised TSH and low T4/T3) then you need supplementation. Tricky when you've got so called subclinical hypothyroidism - raised TSH and normal T4/T3.
I usually go by symptoms then, esp if somebody's tired and start them on a low dose (25mcg) of thyroxine. But here's no right or wrong in this situation, watchful waiting is same good.
Oh, we also check for antibodies to see if that's Hashimoto. Just to know, as supplementation is the same, TSH driven, for the rest of life.
Hope your endo is a reasonable doc.

I've got high TSH and T3/T4 in the proper range. I next did the antibodies test and it is within the normal range. So now considering my cholesterol, my extreme intolerance to cold and "cold flashes", plus tiredness, I am not sure what to do. Perhaps I should just wait and retest periodically?

I think it's a good result. Keep trying this way.

Up to you, but if TSH is well over the limit and T3/T4 in normal, but lower range, supplementation may make you better. I would discuss it with your endo, it'll be them monitoring you at the end of the day, not us here :)
